Casinos of Illinois hope for reopening on the 15th of January

The Illinois Governor has expressed optimism that the state will soon be able to exit the Tier 3 lockdown which means that the casinos of Illinois will work again.

J.B.Pritzker reported that 11 regions of Illinois may ease restrictions from the 15th of January if the metrics support this decision. This date is a preliminary closing date for the incubation period of the cases of infection registered after the holidays, started on the first of January.

Pritzker said: “We are watching closely for that incubation period after Chritmass and New Year holidays. I am cautiously optimistic as there are a few early signs that some of the regions have made real progress.”
The Governor claimed that the cases of infection after Thanksgiving Day did not increase in amount and that the health officials are checking the postholidays period for any spikes.

Under Tier 3 lockdown any meetings are prohibited, bars and restaurants have limited work (for example, there are no seats in the hall); even the grocery stores can work at 50% capacity only. Casinos closed in the middle of November after the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases.
The virus affected all the riverboat casinos as well as gaming terminals in different places. This is already the second time when the casino industry suffered from the pandemic; the previous close-down lasted from the 16 of March till the 30rd of June.

Based on the data of Illinois Gaming Board, before the closure adjusted gross income for October from the table games was $19.7 millions, but the EGD gross revenue was $59.4 millions. Monthly casino report stated the adjusted gross income of 79.1 millions of dollars.
